Minerals & Heavy Metals Analysis

The laboratory provides a comprehensive range of analysis employing state-of-the-art Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) methodology for the most accurate and precise analysis of minerals in a range of substances from feed and forage to animal health supplements.

In addition to the minerals that are of interest from a nutritional perspective, we also test for undesirable elements such as lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic and fluoride. We use Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectroscopy(ICP-MS), ion-selective electrode and Atomic Absorption Fluorescence Spectroscopy (AA-FS) to analyse down to the low levels required to meet customers’ due diligence obligations.

Mycotoxins Analysis

The laboratory conducts a comprehensive range of quantifiable, rapid and accurate analytical suites covering both general and specific mycotoxin testing. Two techniques are employed, ELISA and HPLC. HPLC provides a more detailed analysis of the individual mycotoxins such as the breakdown of aflatoxin into its major components B1, B2, G1, G2, and offers lower limits of detection.

Microbiology Analysis

The company’s well-equipped and recently expanded microbiology section offers a rapid and comprehensive testing service routinely testing premixes, animal feed, feed ingredients, forages, composts, swabs and water for a wide range of pathogens and spoilage bacteria. We have been approved by DEFRA for the testing of Salmonella and Enterobacteriaceae for over 20 years.

In addition to the routine analysis of feed materials, we also offer a Bioaerosol testing service with Bioaerosol plates delivered to customers designated sites, please enquire for details.
