Salmonella contaminated animal feed can pose a large problem to human and animal health. The Zoonoses Order 1989 and the Animal By-Products Regulations were put in place aimed at protecting human and animal health and the environment.
Feed manufacturers require microbiological analysis for due diligence purposes, as part of their Assurance Schemes or as part of their HACCP procedures.
Sciantec has offered a microbiology service and been approved by DEFRA for the testing of Salmonella and Enterobacteriaceae under the Animal By - Products Regulations 2005 (and previous regulations) for over 20 years.
The busy microbiology section also tests animal feed, feed ingredients, forages, composts, swabs and water for a wide range of pathogens and spoilage bacteria.
Analysis provided includes:
- Salmonella
- Enterobacteriaceae
- E coli
- Total Viable Count
- Pseudomonas sp
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Staphylococcus aureus
- Enterococcus
- Clostridium perfringens
- Yeasts
- Moulds
